About Me
Thank you for taking the time to read “about me”. I hope you find this information helpful in determining whether I would be a good fit for you and for what you are trying to accomplish in therapy.
As a therapist, my style is integrative. I am trauma informed and trained in several modalities. Depending on the personality, strengths, experiences, and preferences of the client I am working with, I may utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and/or techniques from Adlerian, Existential and Psychodynamic modalities. It is my heart’s desire to help my clients have breakthroughs that lead to more freedom and peace in their life. I am goal-oriented and enjoy helping clients overcome challenges that have kept them stuck or in a dark place for too long. I also have compassion for working with clients who have experienced sudden tragedies that turned their world upside down.
I have worked in private practice and community mental health settings, counseling groups, individuals and couples since 2017. I am proficient at helping individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, betrayal, or trauma; and couples who are struggling in their relationships, due to betrayal or other interpersonal conflict.
I am certified, and/or trained, in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Taylor Johnson Temperament Assessment, and Prepare Enrich.
I am licensed by the State of Texas, as a Professional Counselor, #81956. I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, as well as the International Society for Accelerated Resolution Therapy. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and my Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. My master’s program required over 40 more hours than the state required degree programs at the time of my schooling. The additional education equipped me with the opportunity to counsel from a secular or a Biblical perspective, depending on my client’s preferences. I have studied agnosticism, atheism and world religions, formally and informally, as well as different denominational backgrounds. I count it a privilege to walk alongside every client that comes into my office. I wholeheartedly respect where they are in their own journey, and honor their autonomy. I feel that my calling is to serve those who come into my office. If spirituality, religion or church hurt, is an area of struggle, that is also an area in which I can help.
As an individual, I am an avid learner who loves challenges. I felt called to be a counselor after experiencing sudden and tragic loss in my own life. I understand what it feels like to have your life turned upside down, to feel all alone, and to feel like no one understands. I know what it feels like to lose your identity. I can relate to you if you are experiencing disappointment, confusion, or betrayal in relationships and I get church hurt. I have decades of life experience and know that even though we encounter trials, we can triumph. Beauty can come from ashes and there is hope for hurting hearts. If you feel like I might be a good fit as a therapist, I would count it a privilege to join you in your journey.
